We go by the following points :
1.job placement advertisements in the local newspapers often state 'knowledge of UBS or MYOB computerised accounting system is preferred'
2.potential customers often ask us to compare MYOB with UBS.
So what are the main differences between MYOB and UBS software?
Usually when we are asked to compare the 2 popular accounting software in Malaysia, we do not run down either one, instead we state the obvious differences, which are :
1a. MYOB Accounting software integrates Accounting functions with Billings and Inventory transactions into one application.
1b.UBS software separates 'Accounting' from 'Inventory & Billing' functions. Meaning you need to purchase 2 application software if you want to automate your billings with accounting transactions. There is a need to 'post' transactions between the 2 applications
2a. MYOB is owned and published by an Australian company; MYOB Pte Ltd, and is distributed worldwide in New Zealand, USA,and many Asian countries (Malaysia, Singapore, HK, Indonesia). In the Australian website, it states there are 1 million users.
2b. UBS is developed by a Malaysian company, and was bought over by the SAGE group plc in 2006. The software is also made available through dealers in Singapore, China, Myanmar, Indonesia, Thailand, Brunei and Vietnam. The websites states there are 100,000 SME users using UBS software.
As a potential user you should call consultants from both software to present their software features and assess how it will help in automating your company's business operations.

It is good to know that there is a software that integrates billing and inventory. Business will surely be very good and its easier to track all the income derived from the business.
