There are not many accounting software for Mac OS X operating system as there are for the Windows-based PC. If your entire office is run by Mac computers, then this article Guide to the Best Accounting Software for Apple Computers should be useful as it discusses the choices of accounting software available to Mac business owners. MYOB's AccountEdge is one of the recommended accounting software for Mac.
MYOB's AccountEdge Mac accounting software development is now spearheaded by the American company, Acclivity Group LLC, (which used to be the US division of MYOB Ltd before a management buyout) while the MYOB PC-based software is published and developed by the Australian company, MYOB Ltd.
If your business is located in Malaysia, you will be happy to note that you can now buy MYOB AccountEdge software direct from MYOB Malaysia, or from the MYOB Malaysia Professional Partners.
MYOB AccountEdge software has features for invoicing, purchasing, time billing, inventory management, and cash management. It helps you track your transactions in foreign currencies, and has extensive job and project reporting features.

UBS or MYOB Accounting software?
The two popular accounting softwares used by Malaysian SME companies are UBS and MYOB. Why do we say so?
We go by the following points :
1.job placement advertisements in the local newspapers often state 'knowledge of UBS or MYOB computerised accounting system is preferred'
2.potential customers often ask us to compare MYOB with UBS.
So what are the main differences between MYOB and UBS software?

MYOB Asia launches latest version of MYOB Accounting software
MYOB Asia (the publisher of MYOB software for Asia) has launched the latest version of MYOB Accounting v18 and MYOB Premier v12. Also included in this latest launch is MYOB Premier Plus v12.
What's new in the latest version, as compared to the previous version? I want to highlight 2 new interesting features.
1. Spelling check.
Something seemingly unrelated to Accounting, but equally important if you want to present a professional image to your customers. MYOB software can now check the spelling in your sales, purchase and item information. It checks for misspelled words, and the user can have a choice to add the word to to the spelling dictionary or to ignore the word. For example, the word 'Petaling Jaya' is considered a misspelled word in the dictionary, but it is a valid spelling of the city I am living in! So I add it to the dictionary, and in future if I spelled it as 'Petalign Jaya' (which I always do), then it will highlight to me my typo error. Cool!
2. Enhanced search feature
There are now more options to sort information in the Cards,Items, Activities and Locations list. Example of search filters for Cards List are : phone number, email address, city and postcode, while for Items list, you can search by Primary supplier and Supplier Item number.
MYOB Premier Plus v12 has a new Payroll feature suitable for Malaysian companies.
Other features was introduced to make working in MYOB a breeze.
To learn more about the new features go to MYOB website
Note : Upgrading your file from an older version can be done in minutes. Try it out

Product Review : MYOB Premier Accounting Small Business Suite 2007
Read about the review of MYOB Premier Accounting Small Business Suite 2007 by PC Mag, excerpts below :
The MYOB line of accounting products for small business goes back to the early 1990s, has always competed well with QuickBooks, and, because of its Mac origins, has always matched that product in usability—yet many people still don't know about it.
The big news in this version includes integration with Microsoft Outlook (2000 through 2003 only), payroll import and preview, error correction in bank reconciliations, and easy migration from sales orders and quotes to purchase orders. The developers have also made a passel of smaller, useful changes. It looks great, too: I've yet to find a screen in the latest MYOB interface I wouldn't consider cleanly designed, easy to understand, and detailed.
Transaction forms, such as invoices and purchase orders, offer plenty of detail and flexibility, and, with over 200 reports, you have more than enough for exhaustive management overviews. Exporting of reports works well with Microsoft Office 2007, as does mail merge. The product also competes well with its most formidable peers, such as PeachtreePremium Accounting and QuickBooksPremier, in its ability to track time-billing, jobs, and inventory.
